How to Get Help from SAFE, Inc.

If you or someone you know needs help, there are several ways to access services. One is to walk into either of the Domestic Violence Intake Centers located at:

Hours:
Monday: 8am-4pm
Tuesday-Friday: 8:30am-4:30pm
You do not need an appointment or ID to speak with a SAFE Advocate.  All services are free and confidential.

On Call Advocacy Program Response Line:

The On-Call Advocacy Program (OCAP) Response Line provides immediate crisis intervention services for domestic violence victims 24-hours a day, 7 days a week.  OCAP Advocates are available to meet with a victim at a safe location to provide tangible resources, or speak with them on the phone.
To access this service you must go through one of SAFE’s partner agencies:
  • Metropolitan Police Department
  • Child and Family Services Agency
  • US Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia
  • DC Rape Crisis Center
  • The Polaris Project
  • My Sister’s Place
  • Ayuda, Inc.
  • Howard University Hospital
  • Washington Hospital Center
  • DASH (District Alliance for Safe Housing)
ACCION: La Línea de Emergencia

Alcalde, SAFE empezó la línea de ACCION. Una línea de emergencia diseñada especialmente para Latinas.  La línea  provee intervención de crisis y servicios inmediatos que están disponible 24 horas al día 7 días a la semana. 1-866-962-5048

If you require services in Spanish you can call directly to 1-866-962-5048
Spanish speakers may call 1-866-962-5048 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to receive immediate crisis intervention in Spanish that includes:
  • Safety planning
  • Lethality Assessment
  • Immediate crisis shelter
  • Information about legal rights,
  • Referrals to immigration and family law attorneys with domestic violence expertise;
  • Assistance making a police report;
  • Information about DC’s Language Access Law and how to enforce it;
  • Referrals to a network of service providers in the Latina community in the tri-state area
  • Assistance filing Civil Protection Orders and access to the Emergency Temporary Protection Order process.
