The Court Watch Project is a volunteer staffed project in which court proceedings in the Domestic VIolence Unit at DC Superior Court are monitored. That information is published for the court, the Bar and the public to ensure transparency and to give victims a greater voice in how the court processes domestic violence cases. Volunteers will attend court in the Domestic Violence Unit of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia on specific days to observe Civil Protection Order cases and record case outcomes on a form. This data will then be collected and analyzed for a report. Volunteers can largely determine their own hours, but will need to attend a brief training program to learn about domestic violence cases and how to collect data. Volunteering for this project will be an important contribution to a project enhancing access to justice.
